Why HiFI Buys? A Personal Blog from a long-standing Customer

This is my personal blog. As a long standing fan and customer of Hifi Buys., I want to tell you from personal experience why you need to walk into Hifi Buys and meet my good friend Alan. Let me begin with music. For me, music is extremely spiritual- it has a place right beneath God and my wife in the hierarchy of life. After my stressful days at work as a medical consultant, I relax by listening to music about 15-20 hours a week in my dedicated listening room. It is definitely my special release and the purchase of my equipment has been one of the best things I could have done for myself. As the Eagles sing in “Lyin’ Eyes,” every form of refuge has its price.

In my listening room, I have Vandersteen Model 7 speakers, Ayre MXR monoblocks, an Audio Research Reference Anniversary Preamp, an Audio Research Reference Phono 2 SE phono preamp., an Ayre DX 5 and an Avid Sequel SP with an SME IV tonearm and a Lyra Atlas cartridge.   My sanctuary lets me listen to a lot of different things, but rock and roll from the late 60’s and most of the 70’s is what I love the most.   With Alan’s help, I have also started to listen to acoustic jazz of the 50’s and 60’s- you know, the Blue Note and Impulse stuff. My basement also has the reputation of where other people’s records go to die. With a collection of over 2,000 records. I often host “Classic Album Sundays” at my home in my listening room where I’ll gather with a few friends and listen to some classic albums. My wife and I know when we have parties, the evening will end in the listening room where I will play DJ for everyone. Music has that effect on people.

Even though I am not a resident of Atlanta, there is still only one place I will purchase all of my audio equipment; from Alan at Hifi Buys, which was previously Audio Alternative.   I bought my first high-end system back in 1980 but met Alan about five years ago when he picked up my account. I was having some issues with the system I brought from another store, and Alan helped me get up and listening again. And from there, the rest is history.

In the years since, Alan has assisted me through every upgrade and every purchase. Not as a sales person, but as a friend. And it’s that sincerity, friendship and ultimately that trust between us that makes my experience at Hifi Buys such a simple decision. To my wife’s dismay, I have spent almost $200,000 upgrading my system with Alan’s help over the past several years, which takes commitment. Commitment not only to the actual equipment itself, but to Alan and Hifi Buys. I highly recommend that you meet with Alan at the store. This is what you will get;

• A person; a friend who is great at listening to exactly what you want and completely catering to your needs.
• An expert in the industry.
• An honest opinion. Even though we don’t agree all the time., Alan will tell me when he thinks I am wrong, and vice versa!
• A place where you can take your own records and hear your music for yourself on the equipment.
• An extremely patient guy who will spend more than an hour with you and answer all the questions you may have about your audio equipment.

If you want someone to respect your wishes in music reproduction equipment, Alan and Hifi Buys is the only place to go.   As long as Alan and HiFi buys are around, I will not buy from anyone else.
