Lenbrook America’s Dean Miller Talks About HiFi and HiFi Buys

My thanks to Alan Jones for inviting me to contribute to this blog in anticipation of his opening of “HiFi Buys” in June.

Music has been a major part of my life, ever since I saw the Beatles play on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964. I was 8 years old. I have been extremely fortunate to parlay this passion into a career of working for a few outstanding audio manufacturers for the past 35 years.

I joined Lenbrook America just over 4 years ago. Although Alan was a dealer for a previous company I worked at, I only met him when I started at Lenbrook. Alan is very well known throughout the industry and is an iconic dealer, so I’m glad we finally met! Alan has always sold premium brands and the best audio gear available. He and his team have a great reputation and they’ve been selling prestigious brands for a long time. To accomplish something like that, you have to know what you’re doing and what you’re talking about. Alan and his team really live and breathe high performance audio. He’s one of those rare dealers in the country able to sell this caliber of product. It takes a lot of time and hard work to build a reputation like that.

At the root of all of this is the music itself. It’s the emotional transportation that takes each of us to various places. I grew up with music in the 60’s & 70’s and have as much love for music now as I did then. Alan is the same way – really driven by great music and committed to delivering the best musical experience his customers can afford.

Everyone knew HiFi Buys back in the 80s when Mel Silverman  was the owner; it was a real regional powerhouse. This was a long before Alan took over ownership of the HiFi Buys brand. HiFi Buys had a huge following and over time, developed into a great brand with tremendous brand cache and equity. I became friends with a lot of people from HiFi Buys and a lot of those friends are still in the industry today; they really grew up in HiFi Buys.

The synergy of the HiFi Buys brand name and Alan’s outstanding reputation makes for a powerful combination. I believe that Alan has made a very savvy business decision to relaunch his business under the HiFi Buys moniker. I’m excited about it and I look forward to seeing this blossom in the years to come.
